Our journey begins in Pengeri, a lush tea-growing region in Upper Assam, where our family-run gardens are nurtured by the Dehing River. This river flows through the heart of Assam’s tea country, shaping the region’s tea heritage for generations.

 

                               

 

Our tea garden is uniquely connected to nature, sitting beside the Dehing Patkai National Park and bordered by the dense Buridehing Forest. This untouched wilderness is home to diverse wildlife, including wild elephants that occasionally wander through our tea estate—an awe-inspiring reminder of our harmony with nature.

 

                             

 

Dehing Tea is more than just a brand—it’s a continuation of a family legacy. Our tea-growing roots in Assam go back generations, and our commitment to quality remains unchanged. Most of our teas come directly from our own family-run gardens in Pengeri, while we also work closely with other skilled local tea farmers. Every leaf is handpicked with care, ensuring the freshest, most authentic Assam tea reaches your cup.

 

Meet the Founder: 

Hi, I’m Mampi, founder and director of Dehing Tea (Shangrila T Limited). I was born and raised in Assam, India, where tea is not just a drink but a way of life. Growing up surrounded by tea gardens, I developed a deep appreciation for fresh, single-origin Assam tea—something that was always part of my daily routine.

After moving to London, I found myself missing the bold, authentic taste of Assam’s single-origin teas. While tea is deeply cherished here, I noticed that most available options were blended from multiple origins, lacking the rich character I had grown up with. The idea of sharing Assam’s finest single-origin teas stayed with me, and during the lockdown, I finally decided to turn it into reality. In 2022, Dehing Tea was born—with a mission to bring fresh, handpicked Assam teas directly from our family-run gardens to tea lovers worldwide.

With generations of tea-growing heritage behind me, I am committed to preserving Assam’s rich tea legacy and introducing more people to the full-bodied flavors that make Dehing Tea truly special.
