We are a family-run tea company rooted in Assam, India, built around a single estate with a deep commitment to quality, craftsmanship and transparency. Our teas are shaped by place, guided by experience, and made for people who value flavour, integrity and authenticity.
Our Roots in Assam

The heart of Dehing Tea lies in the Shangrila Tea Estate, located in the lush, biodiverse landscape of Ambikapur, Pengeri in Upper Assam. The estate was established from the ground up, transforming raw land into a thriving tea garden through patience, expertise and generational dedication.
What makes our Shangrila estate distinctive is not only its location, but its continuity. The estate has remained under the stewardship of our family since its founding in 1994, with knowledge and values passed down rather than outsourced or diluted.
Today, Shangrila remains a single-estate tea garden, producing tea that reflects its specific soil, climate and growing conditions, which is an increasingly rare distinction in a world of blended and anonymous teas.

A Family-Run Estate, From Leaf to Cup

Rather than separating farming and harvesting from production, Shangrila operates an on-site tea processing factory, allowing close oversight of quality at every stage. From growing and plucking standards to withering, rolling and drying, each step is carefully controlled to preserve flavour integrity and consistency.
This estate-based production ensures that our Assam black and green teas are not only grown in one place, but crafted in one place, maintaining traceability and the highest of standards.
Our Assam Teas: Bold, Expressive and Honest

Assam is known for producing some of the world’s most distinctive black teas. Rich, malty and full-bodied, we are proud to bring you our premium quality, single estate Assam black tea, including our seasonal second flush harvests known for depth and richness.
In our tea factory, we also produce a beautiful Assam Green Tea, gently processed to preserve freshness and balance.

Beyond Assam: Thoughtful Sourcing, Same Standards

While Assam tea is at the core of Dehing Tea, we recognise the importance of offering a caffeine free range of exceptional botanical and herbal teas, sourced from trusted partners who share our commitment to quality.
Our herbal teas, including chamomile, hibiscus and blue tea, are sourced from the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, India, a region known for high-quality botanicals. These infusions are made using whole flowers, not dust or fragments, are naturally caffeine-free and are packed in biodegradable tea bags.
Across all sourced teas, our focus remains the same: purity, transparency and flavour integrity.
We are proud of our heritage, mindful of our responsibility, and committed to sharing teas that are honest reflections of the land and people behind them.
Meet Mampi, Founder of Dehing Tea

Hi, I’m Mampi, founder of Dehing Tea (Shangrila T Limited). I was born and raised in Assam, India, where tea is a daily ritual and way of life. Growing up surrounded by tea gardens, I developed a deep appreciation for nature and our fresh, single-origin Assam tea.
After moving to London, I found myself missing the bold, authentic taste of Assam’s single-origin teas. While tea is deeply cherished here in the UK, I noticed that most available options were blended from multiple origins, lacking the rich character I had grown up with. The idea of sharing Assam’s finest, single-origin teas compelled me to turn my idea into reality and in 2022, Dehing Tea was born. My mission remains to bring fresh, hand-picked, premium quality and single estate teas directly from our family-run gardens to tea lovers worldwide.
With generations of tea-growing heritage behind me, I am committed to preserving Assam’s rich tea legacy and introducing more people to the full-bodied flavours that make Dehing Tea truly special.
